If you’ve been waiting for a new family-friendly resort from The Excellence Collection (that still feels truly upscale), this is the news you’re going to want on your radar.
The Excellence Collection just announced their newest property: Finest Riviera Cancun, currently projected to open early 2027. And yes, I’m already keeping a list of clients who want first access the moment booking opens.
I know “2027” feels far away, but if you’ve followed any recent resort openings, you already know how this goes: the first waves of inventory can go fast, certain suite categories disappear quickly, and the best planning happens early.
Here’s what’s confirmed about Finest Riviera Cancun
Even though details are still limited right now, the press release gave us some really helpful clues about what this resort is aiming to be.
Finest Riviera Cancun is designed for all ages, with a true luxury feel. That’s the sweet spot Finest has always done well: couples who want romance, families who want space and convenience, and groups who want a resort that can handle celebrations without feeling chaotic.
A few highlights that stood out to me:
- All-new suite concepts and “more high-value categories” (this usually means more variety in layouts and possibly better options for families who need separate sleeping areas)
- Unexpected swim-up options (my guess: we’ll see some new configurations beyond the typical swim-up terrace)
- 12 restaurants total, including several new culinary experiences
- Four swimming pools plus a kids splash park
- A water slide park for older children
- Arcade and Imagine Kids Club
- ONE Spa with hydrotherapy plus treatments for both adults and kids
If you’re planning a trip with kids and you’ve ever thought, “I want the fun stuff, but I also want it to feel like a nice resort,” this lineup is exactly why Finest stays on my short list.
Adults-only calm and upgraded family perks (two “club” sections)
This part matters a lot for planning because it impacts the vibe.
Finest Riviera Cancun will include two upgraded sections:
- Excellence Club: geared toward guests who want quiet, adults-only relaxation
- Finest Club: geared toward families who want an elevated experience
Both come with perks like access to their own exclusive restaurants, lounge, pool, bars, and beach areas.
Why I’m excited about this one (and how I’m approaching it)
I’ll be honest: I love when Excellence Collection adds new properties because they tend to raise the bar, not just replicate the same resort with a new name.
I’m traveling to the other Finest resorts later this year, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this newest one compares once it opens. I also plan to share updates the same way I did during the lead-up to Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres, because I know how helpful it is to have real guidance when information is trickling out.
Right now, the biggest unknowns are the things you’re probably wondering too:
