New Video: Excellence Punta Cana Review + Imperial Suite Tour

If you’ve been curious about Excellence Punta Cana (or you’ve been eyeing it because the price is usually so much better than Cancun or Jamaica), I just dropped a brand-new resort review that I’m really excited about.

This one is an Excellence Punta Cana Review we filmed on-site at the original Excellence resort, and I went in expecting to like the newer resort down the beach more. I did not walk away feeling that way.

Why this video might help you decide faster

A lot of resort content online is either overly polished or it skips the stuff that actually affects your trip. In this review, I tried to focus on the real “Will I be happy here?” questions I get from clients every week.

Here’s what I cover (and what I think matters most when you’re planning):

  • The vibe and atmosphere, because EPC has a charm that surprised me in the best way. It’s not trying to be the newest. It’s trying to be the most inviting.
  • Beach reality check: this stretch of Punta Cana can have rougher water, and in summer you can absolutely run into sargassum (that brown seaweed). I talk about what that looked like during my stay and when I’d time a trip if calmer water is your priority.
  • Pools and lounging: the main pool is huge, and even when people played the “save a chair” game, we still found good spots.
  • Food rundown: overall, it’s the consistent Excellence level you’d expect. I also share a few standouts (including one dessert I would go back for).
  • Entertainment: I genuinely think this may be my favorite theater setup in the Excellence Collection so far.

Excellence Punta Cana

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Older, charming resort. Not as flashy as some of the more modern resorts. Great layout, good food, good entertainment, and great value.

  • Swim-up Suites
  • Huge Main Pool
  • Massive Imperial Suite
  • Great Beach Layout

A quick note if you’re torn on Excellence Club

I get asked this constantly: “Is Excellence Club worth it at Excellence Punta Cana?”

My answer is basically this: I still recommend Club, but you can absolutely have a wonderful trip without it here. The gap between Club and non-Club doesn’t feel as dramatic as it does at some of the newer properties, and I explain why in the video.

Timing tip if the beach is your top priority
If you’re planning primarily for swimmable, clearer water, I’d look hardest at winter and spring dates. Summer can be beautiful too, but it’s more likely to bring rough surf and heavier sargassum on this coastline.

Yes, I stayed in the Imperial Suite

If you’ve ever wondered what the biggest room in the Excellence Collection looks like, I took you inside the Excellence Club Imperial Suite.

Without spoiling the whole thing, the headline is: it’s massive (around 2,000 square feet of interior space), and it feels more like a luxury apartment than a hotel room. But there’s one practical “would this annoy me?” downside you should know before booking it, and I talk through that honestly too.

Want me to price this out for your dates?

If you’re thinking, “Okay… this might be my next trip,” I’d love to help you sort the details out.

When you book with me, my planning is completely free, and I book my clients directly with Excellence, which means you keep the same direct-booking benefits (and yes, I’ll walk you through transfers, room category choices, and whether Club makes sense for your trip).

See you in the video, and if you’ve stayed at Excellence Punta Cana before, tell me your favorite restaurant because I love comparing notes. And as always, I appreciate it if you Like and Subscribe!
